Westchester Public Schools received recognition for their use of technology at the Illinois Technology Conference for Educators held at St. Charles in February, 2002. The Larry Stilgebauer Award for Exemplary Use of Technology was presented by the Area One Learning Technology Centers, Regional Offices of Education, and Intermediate Service Centers. Westchester Public Schools was recognized for implementing innovative and effective uses of technology that have improved the learning process for their students. |

Using the Intellitools products, activities were created to improve the quality of education for special needs students in the district. |
| (left to right) Anna Klamik, computer teacher; Mary Leidigh, Westchester Intermediate School principal; and Kerrie Ryan and Laura Czajka, fifth grade teachers, attended the award ceremony and received the plaque for the Fifth Grade project. The project was titled Colonies: Then and Now. It was an engaged learning project that involved researching various aspects of colonial life and comparing them to life today. Students used the digital camera, scanned hand-drawn illustrations, downloaded images from the Internet, or used KidPix to create their graphics. They imported these into PowerPoint which was used to present their information. |
