Instrumental Music

The District 92½ Instrumental Music programs have several bands that begin at WIS and progress through Middle School.

In fourth grade, students are given the opportunity to play a wind instrument, a brass instrument, or a percussion instrument. The woodwind family of instruments includes the flute, clarinet, and saxophone. The brass family of instruments includes the trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone horn, and tuba. The percussion family includes the sanre and bass drum, cymbals, xylophone and many more.

Students in Band leave class for one fourty-minute lesson per week with "like" instruments. In addition, students meet before school once a week for a full band rehearsal including all of the instrument groups at the same time.

After a year of playing in the beginner Band, studnets can graduste to the next level, the Cadet Band. In Cadet Band, the same system applies, but one more rehearsal per week is added, as well as more performance opportunities.
