The goal of this program is to provide additional math instruction and support to enable students to master mathematical concepts and apply them. In math club, teachers have the opportunity to help students become more proficient at the quick recall of math facts and then apply them to solve problems. In addition, students learn math vocabulary and problem solving strategies. As ISAT draws near, the students receive extra ISAT math practice along with tips on how to successfully answer the questions. Technology is also used in math club and students have the opportunity to use the computer lab to sharpen their math skills!
Math club participants work both individually and in small groups throughout the program. However, each extended day math class is limited to ten students in order to ensure that each student receives individualized attention and support from the teacher. Students are chosen based on standardized test scores, classroom performance, and teacher recommendation.
