Emergency Closing Every
effort will be made to keep the schools open. However, in cases of
extreme emergency, such as severe weather conditions or mechanical failure
in the school plant, the superintendent will take the action necessary
to protect the health and safety of all personnel.

Additionally, each building principal will implement a plan of action utilizing room mothers to contact each parent through a telephone tree. | |

Each principal has a basic plan for the protection and overall security of the students and faculty during a tornado warning or watch. Students are instructed in tornado drills, as well as fire drills, in the event it becomes necessary to evacuate a building. In
addition, each school has a weather alert receiver to inform the administration
of severe weather conditions in the immediate vicinity. If a tornado
or a severe storm is in progress just prior to, or at dismissal time, children
will be kept in school until the building principal or superintendent has
determined that it is safe for them to leave.
